Saturday we have six runners going around at Ascot which is the final meeting for the Ascot season.

Race one we have Malibu Style who was an impressive last start winner coming from off the speed over 1000m to record the fastest last 600m on the day to win easily.

He has come on since that run even further and I expect him to run right up to his best. Liberty’s Gem is a smart performer and beat us home in the Placid Ark Stakes earlier in the season. It will provide strong opposition on that form but we have the race fitness on our side and hoping that may give us the edge.

Race three we have Clumsy nominated where she has drawn barrier two. This will help her chances against better class opposition than she usually meets.

In saying that she has been consistent in similar grade until last start when she drew wide and went back on a day suited to on pace horses.
She has held her form and she can run well but I see Silver Magic Ships and Bjorn to Love as horses that could win in better company down the track.

Race four we have Boutique engaged following her maiden win at Bunbury. She comes back in distance from 2038m to 1800m but that is not a disadvantage in my mind.

The pace should be genuine and I expect her to settle mid field and get a trail into the race. Her win was strong and I can see this filly training on to better races next season. She has each way claims.

Via Laurentina on face value looked a shade disappointing last week as she had a good run throughout. However she seemed to lack the match practice after not running for five weeks.

She will benefit from the run and at the same distance of 1500m and a good barrier draw in one I can see her figuring in the finish. Her work is very good and she has the ability having run second in the Champion Fillies Stakes and Burgess Queen last season.

Race seven we have Crown Lawyer resuming from a spell and he is ready to have a good campaign. He trialed last week and ran third to Fulds Bet and Barakey which was a sound effort.

His work has been strong since that trial and I’m expecting a strong performance first up. I have engaged Jordan Turner to claim 3 kilograms which will see him carry 55kgs and that will enhance his prospects with an in form apprentice.

The last race we have Black Magic Miss resuming from a good barrier in two over the 1200m. This track and distance and her first up record is not the best however she is working with plenty of zest and she is such a consistent performer.

I think she is going to have a good campaign and for that reason she is capable of running a cheeky race and might sneak a place.
