A summary of our runners on Saturday and Sunday.
The first race we have Snitzalong engaged. He has shown quite a bit in his track work but to date hasn’t measured up on race day.
I think he a horse that hasn’t quite worked it out yet but when he does I’m sure he will put it together. Maybe just a watch tomorrow.
Race two is the 3yo race over 1600m and I have two engaged in this race. Dancing Express is coming back in distance from last week’s Belmont Classic where she didn’t quite get the distance. However she has come out of the race in great order and it has persuaded me to give her a chance to pick up a west speed bonus race before the end of the season.
Flying Image is our other entrant and he has been in good touch in a lessor grade but his runs have been good enough. He loomed as the winner last start but couldn’t hold out the winner who got a nice easy run on the fence. I do think he is a horse that will be better again at his next campaign but deserves to have a go at this race first.
In the third race we have Black Magic Miss engaged. She is a very consistent mare who led them up last start and was only run down late. She has trained on well and although this race looks to have a bit more class I think with a sit she can finish off well and play a part.
Crown Lawyer is racing in race four. He is in good touch and despite drawing a bit awkward I think he has the form to win this event. It will be nicer for his chances if he can get some cover but from the 1000m start there is only half turn so if caught in the cheap seats it’s not going to be the end of his chances.
Vonus and Star Glitter are racing in race five. They have both been in form and this race is wide open with numerous chances. Vonus would be backing up from Wednesday but I think he can cope with that and give an excellent sight. He came through his run Wednesday even better than he went into the race. He is very fresh and ready to go again.
Star Glitter goes up in weight quite a bit and drawn wide but once again the 1000m is only around one bend and they basically go straight until the 450m mark. I expect him to again put up a good performance.
Vital Importance is racing in the last race of the day and looks in a good position to again give in a good performance. She is holding form and ready for another battle. She should get a nice run and Jordan Turner will give her a good ride along with some weight relief from his allowance of 2kg. The favourite has big wraps on him and he does look an impressive type but I’m not conceding.
Kalgoorlie runners for Sunday’s Magic Millions day include Correspond who I think has a very good chance of winning. It does not look like a strong race and his first up run was very good followed by his next run when caught outside the leader. With a good gate and a sit on the pace we will see the best of him.
Disco Duck is in race three over 1100m and looks well placed to again have winning prospects. He’s drawn well has good pace so will be on speed all the way. He has good claims.
The Magic Millions race we have two runners in Megafactory who was a good winner there two weeks ago and has trained on well since. He has drawn perfect and Jake Casey will ride again.
He has opposition from Mr Motown but I think he has regained his best form and that is good enough to win this race. Veritasium is also running for the stable and his last run was very promising. He worked to the line well but is coming back in distance and my only concern.
Had the race been a little further he would have been my top selection. He will be hitting the line hard.
